The National Immigration Institute has a program that allows Mexican, American, or Canadian citizens to enter faster and safely to Mexico if they belong to the Global Entry and NEXUS Programs. This program allows them to pass through automated kiosks located at Cancun, Mexico City or Los Cabos, where they can scan their passports, provide their fingerprints, and fill out the Immigration form, which will reduce the waiting time considerably when entering Mexico.
To be a member of Reliable Traveler it is necessary:
- Belong to the Global Entry[1] and NEXUS[2] programs.
- Fill out the online application; and
- Attend to any of the airports mentioned above to submit the application.
The Immigration Institute will have an interview with the candidate so it’s important to not provide false information in the application, nor proving the registration interview or having a negative background in legal, immigration, customs or zoo sanitary matters, because the application for registration to be Trusted Traveler will be rejected.
During the interview, a Federal Migration Agent captures biometric information (fingerprints and photograph) and verifies the validity of the information presented. In case it is approved the validity of the membership will be 5 years.
Once the membership holder enters Mexico, they will have to pass through the automated kiosk, and it will issue the Multiple Immigration Form with the condition of stay of Visitor Without Permission to Perform Paid Activities, with a maximum period of 180 days that guarantees their legal stay in Mexico.
Members scan their passport, place their fingerprints, and enter the requested data to obtain the Multiple Immigration Form, once your registration at the kiosk is concluded, is needed to go to a Federal Immigration Agent for data validation and stamp of your entry to Mexico.
